Short-term Courses in Management
 

CMI Management Diploma

Course: Diploma in Management

Institute: Aspect College, Bournemouth and London campus.

  Aspect Education offers English language courses, foundation courses,university preparation courses in UK. They also offer a range of short term courses for individuals/professionals seeking career growth. The duration of course is about 20 weeks, at the end of which you will obtain a Management Diploma.The first module deals with specialised subjects like finance/human resources/business.During the second module you can work in an organization as a part of work placement, which will give you the much needed exposure and experience in the industry.The final module includes written assignments in form of reports,project work.The course is accredited by Chartered Management Institute (CMI),UK. The course is based on key supervisory and management roles identified by the Management Charter Initiative: managing people, activities, resources and information.


The courses cover the following topics:

·     Managing information and communication for results

·     Customer focus, planning and change

·     Developing your management style

·     Managing your team

·     Developing people

·     Improving the performance of your team

  The entry requirements for the course are a good first degree in the relevant field, an IELTS score of 6 (TOEFL 550).

 

Courses in Retail Management

Course: Retail Management

  Retail is a highly popular industry with expanding employment opportunities for overseas students. The retail industry also offers flexible work hours so it is an ideal way for students to earn money on a part-time basis. Aspect Vocational department's retail courses provide students with the practical and theoretical knowledge required for success in the retail industry. Students can learn the theory and demonstrate the practice behind successful retailing by studying different aspects of retailing, from stock control and display, in-store security and managing teams, to profiling a retail market and buying merchandise. As a supplement to our programme, students can experience the reality of working within a retail environment with up to 20 hours of part-time work offered as a free service to our students. Aspect guarantees to find all Diploma of Retail Management students employment within 4 - 6 weeks of their arrival.

 This work placement assistance does not contribute to course tuition hours, but will help you put knowledge into practice. The 16 subjects in the Diploma programme are grouped into 8 separate 5-week modules:

·     Store operations

·     Sales and merchandising management

·     Organizational leadership

·     Human resource management A

·     Human resource management B

·     Marketing

·     Store management

·     Managing change and continuous improvement

The career pathways usually include roles as Duty Manager, Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Head Office support roles (eg. Buyer or Merchandiser).

         Careers in Law  

  Lawyers give legal advice to clients and, when necessary, also act on behalf of their clients in legal matters. Clients can include members of the public, businesses, voluntary bodies, charities and government departments.The main work of a lawyers include:

  • interpreting and explaining the law to clients, and giving advice and support
  • representing clients in court
  • dealing with paperwork, writing letters, preparing and drafting contracts and documents, and keeping written and financial records
  • researching similar cases to guide their current work.

They deal with different types of cases depending on their specialist area and their employer. The main areas of work are:

  • Corporate
  • Residential conveyancing/commercial property
  • Litigation
  • Probate
  • Central and local government
  • Public Prosecution Service

One of their main tasks is advising clients of their legal rights, responsibilities, and potential problems. They also represent clients in negotiations and in front of courts and tribunals. Researching rules, regulations, and previous cases is another major part of their job. Much of their time is spent preparing legal documents like contracts and wills—it’s their job to make sure that the wording is clear and covers all possible complications, so that conflict won’t arise in the future.

Before applying to law school, you must complete at least 3 years of undergraduate studies at university. To get in, you need very good marks. Law school usually takes 2-3 years of full-time study to complete. The degree you get is called a Bachelor of Law (LL.B). Most students get at least one university degree before applying to law school, you are looking at about 5-6 years of study, after high school. After Std XII , you can apply for a five year degree course in law.
